How to Run, Stop, and Schedule an Email Drip Campaign

Email Drip Campaigns are a series of emails that can be run, scheduled, or stopped. These campaigns are designed as a triggered sequence of automated emails sent on a predefined schedule to a targeted audience. [Learn more about creating one here: How to create an Email Drip Campaign template.]

How do I set up an Email Drip Campaign?

You can set up an email drip campaign by logging into the user account that is preparing the email drip. Go to Setup > Asset Management > Drip Templates

1. Hover over the icon of the template you'd like to start to bring up an Edit option. Select Edit to begin. The icon will have a green "Template" indicator on it if it is a template. You can click the eye icon to preview the drip. You can also choose to create an Email Drip Campaign Template here by clicking "Create".

How do I run an Email Drip Campaign?

You can run an email drip campaign by logging into the user account that is running the email drip. Go to Campaigns > Email > Email Drips

1. Find the template you'd like to start with, and click on its thumbnail card.

2. Walk through the steps after you select Edit. The Bridge platform will automatically populate the default fields including the Drip Name (suffixed with the drip time of creation), language, description, filters, and icon.  However, you have the final say about the exact wording that goes into your drip. All this information will be what users will see on their end. Click Next.

3. Under Editor make changes to the Events, including Email, Delay, Condition, and System by clicking the pencil icon in the top right corner. (Note: if you don't see pencil and x icons, it means you do not have edit access permissions for this template. This is set at an admin and template creation level).  Ensure you click the blue "Save the Drip" button in order to make sure your changes are saved.  Then proceed onto the next step by hitting next.

Editor Settings:
A. Save the Drip: Save changes to campaign template
B. Editor or Delete email template

4. The Sender tab will let you pick who the Email Drip will come from, and who replay emails will go to if a contact replies - by default, the MSP Advantage platform will automatically populate these fields with the email addresses associated with the user currently logged in. NOTE: they do not have to be the same address.

5. Under Contacts you can pick which days of the week you'd like to allow emails to go out on, and your ideal time range for sending. (For example, if I just want emails to have the possibility of sending on standard US business days, I would select, "Mon-Fri". If I wanted to make sure emails only went out on Tuesdays, I would select, Custom and Tue. Click Finish when you are done.

Adding/Removing Contacts to an Email Drip Campaign

You can add single contacts manually to the campaign, or associate a List of contacts to receive the emails. Contacts added to campaigns will always start at the first event step of a campaign - even if that campaign has contacts in a different event step. If you associate a
Smart List, contacts who the system adds to that Smart List will automatically be pulled into that campaign. An associated Recipient List will have contacts added to that Recipient list also automatically added to that campaign. To associate a List, select it from the drop-down menu.

To add a single contact, scroll down under Contacts and select either Add From List, Not Added, or All. (Not Added and All are tabs located on the right of Contacts). Select Add next to the name of the contact.

To remove a single contact, go to the Added tab and select Remove next to the contact you'd like to add. (Note: Contacts that are in a List associated with the campaign will be re-added to that campaign. You need to remove that contact from both the campaign and the List.)

6. All Drips default to Stopped mode after Finish is clicked to ensure no users accidentally run a Drip. Click on the play icon to start a drip to start running the Drip.

7. The Drip will show "Running" as the current state, and the start button will have changed into a stop icon.

How can I stop an Email Drip Campaign?

You can stop an email Drip campaign by logging into the user account that is running the email drip. Go to Manage > Campaigns > Drip (Lead Nurturing)

1. Click on the Drip you would like to stop. It should have a current state that says “Running”.

2. Click on the square icon to stop the drip.

3. Once stopped, the drip campaign will show “Stopped” as the current state.

How do I schedule an Email Drip Campaign?

Note: If you schedule a drip campaign, it will start at the first Event in that campaign. If that first step is a delay, then it will start with the delay.

You can schedule an email drip campaign by logging into the user account that is running the email drip. Go to Manage > Campaigns > Drip (Nurturing)

If you are just beginning to Setup a new campaign, use the following process:

1. Start with starting a campaign like you normally would by clicking Edit on the template you’d like to use

2. On the fourth tab, (4) Contacts, use the drop-down arrow next to Schedule Drip to expand the scheduling tool Set your Start On date, and/or your End On date (leave the end date blank if you do not want to have the campaign stop running on a set date), and then click "Finish".

If you are scheduling a campaign that is already set up, use the following process:

  1. Click Scheduled on a Stopped campaign to pick a date to schedule it.'
