What is an inactive contact?

An inactive contact is a contact that has never opened an email.  A contact can be considered inactive for a few reasons:

  • The contact has not opened an email
  • The contact's email address has hard bounced
  • The contact has unsubscribed

How do I remove my inactive contacts if I have CRM integration?

**Please note that when you remove inactive contacts in Mindmatrix, it will not delete your unsubscribed or hard bounced contacts, since these contacts need to remain in your account to comply with the CAN-SPAM Act**

Step 1:  Email support@mindmatrix.net to disconnect your CRM integration.  Your CRM integration has to be disconnected before you start removing contacts because it is set up to pull in any contacts with specific filter criteria if they do not exist in Mindmatrix

Step 2:  Mark contacts you would like to remove in Mindmatrix as "Inactive" in your CRM or delete them from your CRM.  For instructions on how to export a list of all inactive contacts in your Mindmatrix account, click here

Step 3: Go to Connections>Contacts


Step 4:  Go to the "Inactive" tab, click on the "Inactive" contact icon, and then select which list of inactive contacts you would like to remove (ex. "Delete my contacts who have been inactive for more than 1 year", etc.).


Step 5:  Use the check boxes on the left side of the page to select the contacts that you wish to remove, then click on on the vertical ellipses and select the either "Delete" or "Bulk Delete".
